Caption on back of photograph reads: This is an interesting likeness of Emma Halsey Hall, a member of the Eastville Band of the Montauk tribe and rival faction of the Freetown Band of the Montauks at East Hampton. Prominent families among the Eastville Band were the Cuffee, Ashman, Crippen, Halsey, King and Consas. Those prominent in the Freetown Band were the Pharoahs, Fowlers, Butlers, Wrights and Horton's. Emma Hall's brother Walter Halsey was once a councilor of the Eastville Band of the Montauks.
