Caption on back of photograph reads: The annual Shinnecock Pow Wow, held on Labor Day weekend, has attracted throngs of Indians, who because of the high sales potential, do a thriving business with concessions at the annual fair. It also attracts thousands of tourists who come from all parts of the east. The Shinnecocks, who are hosts to the gathering, have adopted the Plains type of costume of the Sioux, rather than the ancient type of garment worn by their ancestors, when they roamed the hills of eastern Long Island.
