King appears seated with a dog. The wooden building may be Amagansett Life Saving Station, although the note is partially cut off. The 1850-1898 on the reverse of the image indicate Madison's lifespan, as per his gravestone on FindAGrave.com. The partially cut off note indicates Madison was given the honorific of Captain, but it's not clear if that's a military title or a seafaring title.
