This photograph by L. A. Rowley Photographers of East Marion has an inscription on the back indicating the photo shows the bunker steamers Lawrence and Price landing at "the Stirling off the shore of Rocky Point, near East Marion, July 8, 1898." The Stirling, or Sterling as it is spelled on the other photo from the same day by L. A. Rowley was probably another boat. These photographs were part of a collection of images from Sterling Historical Society in Greenport documenting the menhaden or bunker fishing industry, and the connection between Greenport and Promised Land Fish Factory.
