Description

This image is identified as Mrs. Woodhouse's Tea House. Mary Woodhouse was a generous benefactor to East Hampton, donating many public resources, including the Nature Trail and Japanese Gardens. Her Japanese Gardens had a Tea House, which was first built on Louse Point, according to the Springs Historical Society/Library's annotations. This image was scanned from the files of the Springs Historical Society/Library. The image was part of a folder containing photographs of historic homes in Springs. Many of these images have a note that they were taken between 1997 and 2000, possibly in connection with efforts to create a Historic District in Springs.
