In his History Project, Inc. oral history, Bruce Collins told interviewer Tony Prohaska that he piloted the steamer Shinnecock out of Amagansett for Jack Edwards from 1954 until 1960. That date is used to estimate the date for these images. In other images, Bruce Collins explained that many of the Bunker Boats from Promised Land would head south for winter repairs along the Chesapeake, often continuing to fish at points south. Many of the employees of Promised Land also came from areas along the Chesapeake, like Tangier Island. In other images, Bruce Collins explained at the end of the fishing season, boats were taken to Shad Point Marina for a "winter overhaul." This image is captioned, " The Maidstone Leaving Shad Point, MD for Reedville, Va where it will pick up its purse boats and fishing nets before heading for Promised Land for the summer season."
Shad Point Marina is described as on the Wicomico River in Maryland on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. That river runs between the southern side of the peninsula with Nanticoke, Maryland and Salisbury, Maryland. There is a place identified as Shad Point, although that is rather far up river towards Salisbury. It is not clear if the marina was in the town of the same name, which did have marine industries. On one image, Collins puts "Shad Point (Salisbury, MD)" suggesting the marina may actually be in Salisbury, Maryland.
