The image is captioned "Call geese, Robert Crockett, Tangier Island" by Bruce Collins. Robert Crockett appears in other images as a hunting companion and fellow Bunker fisherman. Collins intermittently described Crockett as a waterman or bayman. Elsewhere in these photos, Bruce Collins explained that the bunker boats from Promised Land fish factory often went south for the winter for repairs near Tangier Island and Reedville, Virginia, or down to North Carolina and Florida to pursue other kinds of fish. In his History Project, Inc. oral history, Bruce Collins told interviewer Tony Prohaska that he piloted the steamer Shinnecock out of Amagansett for Jack Edwards from 1954 until 1960. That date is used to estimate the date for these images.
