In his History Project, Inc. oral history, Bruce Collins told interviewer Tony Prohaska that he piloted the steamer Shinnecock out of Amagansett for Jack Edwards from 1954 until 1960. That time range is used to date this image. Bruce Collins labeled this image "Fish in hold of Shinnecock at Promised Land Factory." Elsewhere Bruce Collins notes that many of the employees from Promised Land factory came from the Chesapeake regions. It is likely the African-American male shown in the hold, who appears in other images, also came from somewhere south to work at the factory.
