In this deed, Enos Talmage and his wife, Sarah Talmage sell John Dayton two parcels of land. The first is a 10 acre parcel with their home and Enos Talmage's workshop, in East Hampton Town. That parcel is described as a home lot [in Wainscott, per note on the back of the document], "with all the messuages [farm with outbuildings] and buildings theron, likewise the shop standing on common land near the house," bounded on the north by [the land of] John Strong, and on the east, south & west by highways [all unnamed; one likely Town Street]." The second parcel of land covered in this deed is in Southampton Township, N.Y., "it being my old close" [an enclosed parcel of field], bounded on the north by [the land of] John Strong, on the east and south by highways [unnamed], and on the west by [the land of] Daniel Hedges. The second parcel is 20 acres. The deed is witnessed by Silas Hand and John Stratton, but not acknowledged by a Suffolk County, N.Y. Justice of the Peace, etc. An added memorandum at bottom that said wife Sarah Talmage surrenders her right of dower in conveyance. A second deed on the same day between Enos and Sarah Talmage and John Dayton is also in the collection. The property in the other deed is described as an area known as Evens or Evans Close in East Hampton, measuring 17 acres.
