Lillian Conklin Erickson was known as Babe Erickson. She was "a world class retriever trainer along with her father Harry Conklin. They handled many world champions." Captain Carl Erickson of Amagansett, Babe's husband, was the captain of the bunker fishing boat the Malolo, and this image was taken on th dock of the Belhaven Fisheries Comapny in Morehead City, North Carolina "where the Malolo fished during the winter months before going to Florida to fish for shrimp on the Tortuga Grounds 70 miles west of Key West," as per Bruce Collins.
