This image shows the Drive Boat Man, elsewhere identified as Edward or "Miff" Moore of Tangier Island, Virginia, who was a central part of the Promised Land Fish Factory's bunker boat crews. Moore was involved in tracking the schools of fish from more up close to help ensure the nets were arranged properly. In this image, Bruce Collins notes "The Drive Boat Man is rowing out to the center of the corks after the set is nearly finished to bring some corks aboard his boat to help with flotation." Moore is collecting some of the corks used to help the purse net float just before the purse net is finished being set. At this point, Moore is Elsewhere in these photos, Bruce Collins explained the process of setting a purse net and how purse nets worked to catch bunker fish. In his History Project, Inc. oral history, Bruce Collins told interviewer Tony Prohaska that he piloted the steamer Shinnecock out of Amagansett for Jack Edwards from 1954 until 1960.
