Wooden boats, which apparently included purse boats, were overhauled in Reedville, Virginia. Steel boats, which appear with black bottoms, are here in Reedville to pick up their purse boats and other fishing gear. Presumably these overhauls were also done in the off-season. In his History Project, Inc. oral history, Bruce Collins told interviewer Tony Prohaska that he piloted the steamer Shinnecock out of Amagansett for Jack Edwards from 1954 until 1960. That date is used to estimate the date for these images.
