Six fishing boats leaving Shad Point Marina in Maryland, after the winter overhaul, going out to the Wicomico River. In other images, these boats are identified as part of the "Southern Boats" and some of them are clearly indicated as from East Hampton and working for Promised Land fish factories, most likely Smith Meal Company, which was still open until 1968.
In his History Project, Inc. oral history, Bruce Collins told interviewer Tony Prohaska that he piloted the steamer Shinnecock out of Amagansett for Jack Edwards from 1954 until 1960. That date is used to estimate the date for these images.
