Early municipal records from the Township of East Hampton from 1650-1673, with additional entries from 1687. Among the first record books of the Town of East Hampton, N.Y. This volume is predominantly the records of land allotments to individuals, known as Proprietors, and exchanges of lands between the Proprietors. At this point, the government of East Hampton followed the earliest Plantation-style government structures used in the early English colonies, making the government essentially a corporate entity composed of elected officers referred to as Townsmen.
