This is the second volume onboard the brig Mary E. Rowland (presumably named for the author or her daughter with the same name), kept by Mary E. Rowland Satterly. Mary accompanied her husband Captain Henry Lucas Rowland (1827-1876) on some of his voyages at sea, including a prior voyage about a decade before on the brig Thomas W. Rowland. Mary brought her children to sea with her on her voyages, and this volume records part of her trip from New Orleans, Louisiana to Genoa, Italy. This book begins with the part of the voyage from Sicily onward after January 17, 1867. Henry and Mary Rowland resided in Setauket when they were not at sea.
