Description

A deed for land sold by John Osborn to Lion Gardiner, described as the fourth lot, in 1661. The land is bounded by Thomas Chatfield's land and Hook Pond.
The transcription reads: Know all ye men by these presents that I, John Osborne of East Hampton, doe sell and make over to Mr. Lion Gardiner of East Hampton, a piece of land being the (4 lot) in number, lying betwixt the south end and the swamp, in consideration whereof the abovesaid John Osborne a parcel of meadow land lying at the east end of the lot and pond being bounded on the west by Thomas Chatfield and on the north by the land called the neck and on the east with the hummok and so liing along the fotpath from & [illegible] by the end of the hummok to the east plaine and so along by the south end of the Hoke pond so far as it is January 10, 1661, and for the abovesaid Mr. Gardiner doth fully engage and bind himself and agents to fix the above said parcel of meadow from any man's claiming it or any parcel of it as it now lies staked and marked out in confirmation hereof we set our hands the day and year above written. Signed Lion Gardiner and John Osborn. Witnesses John Stratton. This bil we bond to be of no dues in case we cannot make our land [illegible]. John Osborne Lion Gardiner.
