Description

A copy of a photograph of the Mecox Coast Guard life-saving station, which stood near the end of Ocean Road in Bridgehampton. Originally built in the 1870's, and removed in the 1940's. The note on the reverse indicates the structure once had a cupola and observation tower, but the structure was damaged and shifted by the Hurricane of 1938. A note also indicates the 4 survivors of the Circassian wreck were brought to this life-saving station. A date is estimated based on the station's damage and the photo technology.
