This vocabulary collection was compiled by William Wallace Tooker. These pages are included in a work titled "Vocabulary of the Unquachog Indians on Long-Island. Natick or Mass. Virginia 1888." Unquachog is a variation of Algonquian distinct from the Montauk dialect. A copy of Tooker's work "Vocabulary of the Unquachog Indians on Long-Island. Natick or Mass. Virginia 1888" is also included in the material, and two loose pages, numbered 20-21, of another separate Tooker work on the Montauk dialect are included with the work on the Unquachog language. This fragment appears to overlap some of the content of unidentified pages 20-21. The material is dated based on the dates of the accompanying letters and clippings.
