Letter from Rev. Samuel Buell to Mr. Elisha Pitkin at Hartford [Ct.], favor of Mr. Porter & Wolcutt; East Hampton, N.Y., July 19, 1770. Letter advises Pitkin that he can't procure wool from Mr. Gardiner (sold his supply already), or anywhere in East Hampton [Township, N.Y.], but that he might have better luck in Shelter Island [Township, N.Y.]; also expresses gratitude from his daughter "Gardiner" [Jerusha Buell Gardiner] for the mourning ring sent to her, and that family is coping; and finally, relates that a Mr. Dow is visiting, and finding some benefit, and would be happy to see a Mr. Williams for a visit.
