Description

This photograph shows a unidentified 18th century shipwreck, dated from its square-cut bronze nails, on the ocean beach east of the Napeague radio towers and Hither Hills, which was uncovered in the Ash Wednesday storm of 1962 on a bitter cold Sunday afternoon. On the beach are: Edwin Sherrill III, Edwin Sherrill Jr., Dr. Doris Zenger, the East Hampton pediatrician at that time, a cousin, Sherrill Ann Zenger, and his brother, Linus Sherrill, and their old pale-blue Jeep.
