Description
Letter from David H. Huntting to Arthur W. Benson, notifying Benson of Huntting’s delivery to him commonage deeds for Montauk, N.Y.; also warns Benson of controversy regarding Nathaniel Dominy’s (1827-1910) claims to common lands under water [at Napeague, N.Y.] and how it might affect Benson’s claims to the Montauk Peninsula, provides update on his efforts to purchase 15 or 30 additional acres for Benson’s Barnes Hole Farm [in East Hampton Township, N.Y.]; concludes with stating he believes the deeds for Napeague are on the train [to Benson in Brooklyn, N.Y.], but “the absence of two principal [illegible] may prevent the payment of the rents for awhile,” December 27, 1882.
