Letter from Timothy Pickering to Mr. John Fisher at Fish Mill Landing [state undetermined, lamenting fact that Colonel Hughes' boat is unavailable, and will ask General [Henry] Knox to deliver small "pettianger" [small dugout boat], to Fisher [during the American Revolution], [unknown origin], September 29, 1782. Pickering was in charge of placing of large iron chain across Hudson River for the Continental Army, thus preventing the Royal Navy from proceeding north to West Point and points beyond.
