Description

Caption on reverse reads: This is an amusing and interesting picture. Four plumbers, no doubt, on their way to work. Before the use of cars, most all building mechanics used their bicycles to go to their various jobs, sometimes carrying their tools and materials with them. This photo was taken on the North East corner of Main Street and Buell Lane, next to the East Hampton Library. From left to right, the first two men are unknown. The third and fourth are Clarence Thomas and Erastas Dominy. Notice the very elaborate and high picket fence and corner post enclosing the former Henry C. Stimson residence. Also the sigh "Catrine Lane, Opened about 1650, Buell Lane." Copy by C. Frank Dayton.
