Caption on reverse reads: This building, formerly a garage, was known for many years as "Edwards Theater." It stood on the West side of Main Street, just West of the present walkway to the Reutershan parking lot, opposite the Bank of New York. The crowd is waiting to see the sensational whaling picture, "Down to the Sea in Ships," to which all the old whaling men in East Hampton, were given free passes. This was of course in the days of silent movies, but when these experienced old whalemen saw the Hollywood amateurs throwing harpoons, the silence was broken by their caustic comments. Copy by C.
