Edward ("Miff") Moore, the drive boat man of the Shinnecock, going off in a driveboat. Moore worked as the "driveboat man" on the Shinnecock, a bunker ship. Moore would row the driveboat to track the schools of fish and to help set the net used to catch the bunker. Also in the collection are other photos from the launch process featuring Moore.
In his History Project, Inc. oral history, Bruce Collins told interviewer Tony Prohaska that he piloted the steamer Shinnecock out of Amagansett for Jack Edwards from 1954 until 1960. That date is used to estimate the date for these images.
